Passenger safety – a recognized expertise
Passenger safety is our top priority. For more than a century, we've led the way in protecting passengers in demanding mass transit hubs and environments exposed to heavy traffic. This commitment is reflected in our advanced installation techniques and state‑of‑the‑art solutions that ensure safe and reliable mobility every day.
Performance – robust components for any scenarios
Our Schindler 9700 escalators are engineered for performance and longevity. They offer reliable high quality in heavy-duty and high-rise applications.
Superior truss protection
The truss, built with open steel profiles, is safeguarded by double or triple protective coatings or hot‑dip galvanization, ensuring strong and long‑lasting resistance to corrosion. Its vibration‑isolated end supports further reduce noise by limiting sound transmission to the building.
Drive main shaft designed to last
Our escalator main shaft uses a two-part structure with a fixed steel axle and a rotating hollow shaft. By separating flexural forces from torsional forces, the design improves performance and durability, helping the system maintain optimal functionality in high traffic areas.
Sprockets on top and bottom stations
On the Schindler 9700 model, sprockets are always positioned on both the bottom and top stations. This dual-sprocket configuration enhances the synchronization of step chains on both sides while minimizing lateral chain movement.
Dependable drive chain, step chain, and rollers
Engineered to withstand high breaking loads, our step and drive chains feature well-controlled pin pressure, combined with durable chains and rollers for lasting performance. Step chain rollers are protected by relief curves in transition zones, ensuring long service life and easy replacement – even under extreme loads.
High performance in all climates
All components are built to withstand humidity, heat, ice, salt, and sand. The optionally galvanized truss and other protected components, together with integrated heating features and microprocessor-controlled chain lubrication, ensure dependable performance in all operating environments.
Double monitoring and control of key safety parameters
The MICONIC F microprocessor controller has two independent safety circuits to monitor the essential safety parameters.
Triple control of speed and unintentional change of direction
The speed and traffic direction are monitored on the fly motor, wheel, step band, and handrail. This triple monitoring effectively prevents overspeeding and changing of direction.
Anti-fall barrier
Improper escalator use can occasionally lead to unsafe situations. Our innovative Anti‑Fall barrier enhances the existing balustrade by adding an extra layer of protection. The increased overall barrier height significantly reduces the risk of passengers falling over the side.
Reliability and durability – seamless experience
Trust our escalators to deliver a ride that’s not only safe but also exceptionally smooth and comfortable.
Ergonomic and reinforced handrail
Our reinforced handrails, available in C-shape or V-shape, offer outstanding durability and extended service life.
Standing safe
Innovative features such as slip-resistant steps with optional screw-free safety demarcations, aesthetic skirt brushes, and skirt anti-friction coatings ensure safe footing.
Break-resistant aluminum compact steps
Steps are a key safety component. Our in-house aluminum mono-block steps offer superior break resistance, along with anti-corrosion and fireproof properties. They are ideal for applications in both indoor and outdoor spaces.
Effective passenger guidance
Schindler 9700 is designed to guide all passengers safely to their destination. Full visual guidance is provided by moving LED direction indicators, clear step demarcations, yellow signal combs, and LED step gap lighting.
Continuous handrail sanitization
Handrails are among the most frequently touched surfaces on escalators and moving walks. Schindler Ultra UV continuously sanitizes the handrail using integrated UV-C technology, helping provide a cleaner and more reassuring journey for every passenger.
Sustainability – making efficiency the standard
We’re committed to delivering environmentally friendly solutions that align with your sustainability goals. We provide Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) verified by a third party and recognized by green building certification schemes, including LEED, DGNB, BREEAM, and Green Mark. Health Product Declarations (HPD) are also available.
Our aluminum steps with minimized CO2 footprint
Our aluminum steps and pallets, produced in-house, are among the most durable in the industry. They can meet even the most specific customer specification requirements.
Advanced drive systems
Our advanced drive systems combine IE3 premium‑efficiency or IE4 super‑premium‑efficiency motors with high‑efficiency helical gears. Engineered for high‑rise applications and heavy, continuous use, they deliver outstanding performance with minimal energy demand. Depending on the configuration, they can achieve an energy efficiency class beyond A+++, exceeding ISO 25745‑3 standards.
Smart operation management
When passenger volumes are low, the system automatically switches to ECO Mode, cutting energy consumption by up to 25% at nominal speed. Additional savings come from stop‑and‑go or crawling‑speed operation, while extra energy is generated from downward travel.
Digital services – constant equipment monitoring
Installation is just the start. We keep your escalators performing for years to come.
Our sensors and controllers communicate operational and health data through primary protocols. This connectivity enables easy integration with building management systems and control centers, improving monitoring and efficiency.
Equipment remote monitoring
With our connected units, you can remotely monitor key parameters such as energy consumption, vibration, and sound levels, all tailored to your specific requirements. This advanced monitoring capability not only helps in optimizing performance but also aids in predictive maintenance, reducing downtime and operational costs.
Predictive information
Specific sensors monitor the health status of critical components within your equipment. By tracking those indicators, these sensors deliver valuable insights into each unit's condition, allowing for the proactive prediction of maintenance and repair needs, supporting optimal functionality.
